Back in October I pitched an idea to the creative director at idobi radio. I wanted to write a longer profile piece about Ryan Scott Graham, the bassist for State Champs and the guy behind Speak Low If You Speak Love. I was given the project, reached out to Ryan, and began the interview process via email because he was on tour. When November rolled around, I had to put my extra writing on hold to focus on finishing up the semester and my senior project. I’m happy to say that, despite the months of back and forth, the profile piece is finally published! It’s not uncommon for band members to juggle various responsibilities, but juggling two bands at the same time is a different story. At times you’ll find Ryan Scott Graham stage right for State Champs or center stage for Speak Low If You Speak Love. Other times you’ll find him “laying down the bass grooves” or “singing hyper-personal songs in front of strangers.” And you’ll find him at home in Michigan or traveling around the world and back on tour.
