About an Album
I love music. I’ve found my little niche in the music industry, and I listen to these bands religiously. Last semester I pitched an idea to the creative director at idobi Radio: I wanted to write about Neck Deep’s album Life’s Not Out to Get You, but I didn’t know what I wanted to say. I knew that the album was doing something different, something worth talking about, but I wasn’t sure how to put this discovery into words. Through incredible trial and error, I eventually succeeded, and the piece was published just this afternoon.
There’s More to Life Than Chasing Ghosts… Too often we fly through an album without truly understanding what the lyrics are trying to communicate. Bands spend countless hours writing random one-liners onto napkins, notebooks, plane tickets, or recording ideas into phone memos. All these pieces, these seemingly meaningless words, culminate into the foundation of an album. Neck Deep has carefully crafted the lyrics of Life’s Not Out To Get You to speak about the inconsistencies of life and how to move past them.
