Magically Delicious

6/23/2016

A few years ago, I made a batch of peanut butter cookies. When the first round was done, I tasted one (of course). Immediately, my throat started feeling weird, really thick. My panicked mind probably didn’t help, but the next time I tried peanut butter, the same thing happened. Since then, I’ve avoided it. Without this yummy spreadable nut butter in my life, I sometimes find myself craving a simple peanut butter sandwich or the deliciously decadent Reese’s cup.

I stumbled upon Free2B Foods during my freshman year of college, my mom sent me a package of their Dark Chocolate Sun Cups, which I devoured one Friday night after a stressful week. You would assume that a company who prides itself on being free of so many allergens would make products that tasted as such (aka not good), but the chocolatiers at Free2B Foods know what they’re doing. All of their products are free of seven of the top eight allergens: peanuts, wheat/gluten, eggs, shellfish, tree nuts, soy, and fish. They’re also actively working on making their facility and products dairy free! (We’re rooting on them!)

Just a few weeks ago, I was given the chance to review their products for Asking Alexandra! (And, naturally, I said yes!) The health food store near my parent’s house only had the Dark Chocolate Sun Cups and the Milk Chocolate Caramel Cups.
The Dark Chocolate ones were my favorite. They had a thick chocolatey coating and the sunflower seed butter in the center was not too sweet, so the butter combined with the slightly bitter dark chocolate was heaven (for me). My mom, on the other hand, thought the Caramel Cups were the best. I did enjoy them as well, but they were a little too sweet for my palate. What was really awesome about the Caramel Cups though was the golden, gooey caramel center!

I’m keeping my eye out for the other two flavors: Milk Chocolate Sun Cup and the Dark Chocolate Mint Cups (those sound like they’d be my favorite!). Whenever I find them, I will buy them, and I will share with you my findings!
