The Power of Electrolytes

Hi friends! I’m slowly emerging from the silence that I’ve been in for the past couple of months!

I’m grinding away at finishing graduate school and working on some really wonderful writing opportunities (here’s one example, and here’s another!). Oh, and I’m also on the infamous job hunt (~send prayers~).

I’m happy to break my silence with a product review of a really cool company: Ultima Replenisher. They specialize in electrolyte powders!

So a little story first: Over this past summer, I was living at home with my parents for about a month or so between leases, and I was going to the gym near their house. For some reason, it was always SO HOT in there; I blame a lack of fans. More than once I felt nauseous and dizzy after an intense set. My workouts were taking longer, and I was sweating way more than normal (and I already sweat a lot when I work out—no shame). My lips were perpetually chapped, and I started feeling exhausted during the day (despite sleeping…a healthy amount), and having some digestive issues further complicated. All of this was happening even though I was drinking the same amount of water I always drink. Needless to say, I was confused as to what was happening.

Around the same time, my mom was trying the Keto diet and was feeling just ~bleh~ so she read a couple blogs on the topic and found that electrolytes were helpful, which lead her to finding Ultima Replenisher! So when I started having these symptoms of basically constant dehydration, she suggested I try Ultima.

HOLY COW, GUYS.

My issues cleared up almost overnight, and I’ve been having a serving of Ultima Replenisher’s powder every day I work out since.

Ultima Replenisher currently has six flavors: grape, orange, raspberry, cherry pomegranate, lemonade, and pink lemonade. My ride-or-die is definitely the cherry pomegranate. I was a bit hesitant to try it at first, but I absolutely love it. It’s such a delicious, refreshing flavor. I have lemonade and raspberry permanently stocked in my pantry as well. I’m dying to try the pink lemonade. I’m actually not a fan of orange, like anything (other than those orange creamiscle ice cream thingies that my grandfather would always buy my siblings and I when we were younger), so I didn’t try that one. And I actually didn’t like the grape as much (reminded me of medicine), BUT I think that kiddos would love the flavor.

The powders come in single-serving packets (to be mixed into 16 ounces of water), a 30-serving canister, and a 90-serving canister (I have the cherry pomegranate in this size). They’re all vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, and paleo- and keto-friendly. Their powders contain 0 calories, sugar, or carbs, but have SIX electrolytes and support minerals.

These powders are also a great way to motivate yourself to drink more water. On mornings after fun nights out with friends, I’m usually not in the mood to drink or eat much, but I always make sure to have a water mixed with raspberry powder next to me all day. (Gotta do what you gotta do!)

To anyone who works out on the regular, to anyone who sweats a lot (me), or for people who are looking for a way to motivate yourself to drink more, you should have Ultima Replenisher electrolyte powders in your cabinet.

Electrolytes on the go!
A Bit about Electrolytes:
According to WebMD, when you sweat intensely (think 1.5 hours or more of vigorous exercise) your body loses sodium, potassium, and chloride. These minerals and electrolytes “help deliver fluids to the cells that need them and are essential to everything from muscle health to brain function,” explains this article. For more information on electrolytes and why it’s so important to replenish them after an intense, sweaty workout (or even just a day you happened to sweat a lot), read this.
This review reflects my opinion, and my opinion alone.
